“In the end, only kindness matters.” I’ve been hearing this snippet of a song by Jewel ever since I learned about the attempt on Trump. I don’t like Trump. Never have. But I would never try to kill someone simply because I don’t like them.
I’ve tried to be kind and respectful to others. I don’t find it difficult… most of the time. And I’m certainly not perfect at it.

Sometimes when I’m driving along the crowded streets and highways in the US, I realize how much more enjoyable the trip is when those around me are simply considerate of me. They recognize that I’m just trying to get somewhere, just like they are. They wave and smile. They are patient when we all have to merge, or pass a slow-moving truck. There’s no horn-honking or angry fingers. We’re all in this together. We’re all in this TOGETHER.
Because we are social animals. We can’t live in solitude — not well, anyway, even with all the “advancements” in technology. We still need one another.
Several years ago, I heard something about how the world is a better place when we’ve got each other’s backs. When we support each other. I started trying to drive in such a way that I was supportive of the car(s) in front of me. “I’ve got your back, Ford truck.” “I’ve got your back, motorcyclist.” Recognizing that each individual had their own issues and concerns, and that I can’t pretend to understand what’s going on in their lives helped me see that I could be a little more caring toward them.
Where can you show a little more kindness today?
